Here are the best vegan restaurants in Mississauga, Ontario, including the vegan, vegetarian, and vegan-friendly establishments. Mississauga has so many amazing restaurants where you’ll find delicious plant-based eats, and the list of veg-friendly spots continues to grow. Feel free to sprinkle in these restaurants when you visit Mississauga or Port Credit.

I’ve done all of the taste testing and research, and I’m pleased to show you the most delicious vegan food in Mississauga. At the vegan restaurants, you’ll be spoiled for choice, but I’ll also show you the vegan eats at omnivore restaurants and even a couple of chains.

Vegan Restaurants in Mississauga: Community Restaurant

Community Restaurant is located in Port Credit and it’s one of the best vegan restaurants in Mississauga. There are actually two locations: one in Mississauga and one in Oakville. I only wish this restaurant existed while I still lived in Port Credit. They opened shortly after we moved away. Well, it’s a good excuse to visit our old stomping grounds!

Community Restaurant

These photos were taken at the Oakville restaurant, and I encourage you to visit either (or both) depending on which is closer to you. Community Restaurant aims to educate and promote a vegan lifestyle while sharing positive vibes and delicious plant-based eats.

Community Restaurant
Community Restaurant

Community Restaurant features a cocktail menu, small plates, large plates and a weekend brunch menu. To start, we ordered cocktails and two small shared plates: the crab cakes and the avocado shared plate.

For the main course, we chose two large plates: the truffle and wild mushroom risotto and the truffle gnocchi. We realized once our order arrived that the main dishes were quite similar, but I suppose we have a similar taste in food!

Everything was so flavourful and perfectly seasoned. Admittedly, we ordered way too much food and ended up bringing half of it home with us. Even the small plates offered hearty portions of food. Justin and I totally didn’t mind having a second helping for lunch the next day.

Mississauga Vegan: Nourishmoi

Nourishmoi in Port Credit offers nutritious and delicious meals, prepared from scratch using fresh and wholesome ingredients. They also source local ingredients whenever possible. Now, if you think that sounds a bit boring, you couldn’t be more wrong. It’s one of my favourite vegan restaurants in Mississauga for its fun and innovative meals.

Nourishmoi

It’s also a fantastic place for those seeking gluten-free eats in Mississauga. The whole menu makes it really easy to order if you follow a gluten-free diet. Nearly everything is labelled as gluten-free or offers a gluten-free substitute.

Nourishmoi
Nourishmoi

Nourishmoi features an expansive lunch menu, cocktail menu, and all day everyday brunch menu. Most restaurants only serve brunch on Sundays or weekends for a short time frame, but you can order brunch anytime here. We tried the “chick’frea omelet” (omelet made with chickpea flour and other ingredients) and the blueberry waffles, as well as a couple of smoothies.

I felt healthier dining here and also had a ton of energy to take on the rest of the day. I can’t wait to return to try more of the menu, whether it’s brunch or lunch (it’s hard to decide!). Nourishmoi is one of the best Mississauga vegan restaurants.

Vegan Restaurants in Port Credit: Raw Aura

Vegan Restaurants in Port Credit: Raw Aura

Raw Aura is an innovative restaurant in Mississauga. It’s one of the very first all vegan restaurants in the city (it might be the first one, at least as far back as I can remember) and it’s the first all raw food restaurant in Mississauga, too. This is an all-vegan, all gluten-free, mostly raw food establishment. Not sure if that sounds good or not? They find incredible ways to create flavourful, uncooked meals, that are super healthy.

Vegan Restaurants in Port Credit: Raw Aura
Vegan Restaurants in Port Credit: Raw Aura

I’ve dined at Raw Aura numerous times over the years. The menu changes from time to time, but some of my old favourites still grace its pages. Some of my favourites include the taco salad (with walnut taco meat), pad Thai (with zucchini and kelp noodles), their miso soup and green smoothies. You also can’t leave Raw Aura without ordering a slice of cake for dessert – it’s decadent!

Guerrilla Burger

Guerilla burger

Guerrilla Burger has two locations, one in Toronto and one in Mississauga, and both share a restaurant space with Eva’s Original Chimneys and Happy Taco (all vegan-friendly establishments and featured on this list of the best vegan restaurants in Mississauga).

All Guerrilla burgers start with a Beyond Burger base (soy, gluten and GMO-free) and come with a variety of interesting toppings. For instance, I tried the mac and cheese burger (delicious!) while my sister stuck with the original burger (a little boring, but I get it!). There’s a burger for every taste at Guerrilla Burger. If you have a craving for vegan fast food, it’s a must-dine spot in Mississauga.

Happy Taco

Happy Taco, much like Guerrilla Burger, is located in the same building as Eva’s Original Chimneys. This is truly a magical place where you can get vegan tacos, vegan burgers, and vegan ice cream. Happy Taco is a 100% vegan restaurant in Mississauga where all of their dressings and sauces are made from scratch in-house.

Happy Taco has a variety of taco kits, consisting of three tacos made from flour or corn tortillas. There are several options, like the Beyond Meat tacos, jerk pulled jackfruit tacos, and Korean BBQ pulled jackfruit. They also have mac and cheese quesadillas and a loaded nacho box.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Mississauga: Zen Gardens

Vegetarian Restaurants in Mississauga: Zen Gardens

Zen Gardens has been one of my favourite restaurants for a very long time. I’ve dined at their locations in Toronto (King’s Cafe in Kensington Market), Mississauga, Guelph, and their old Cambridge location (the owners retired and the restaurant closed).

Zen Gardens specializes in delicious Chinese cuisine that happens to be entirely vegetarian. This establishment is mostly vegan with only a few items on the menu containing egg or dairy, and these are clearly marked.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Mississauga: Zen Gardens

The menu at Zen Gardens is quite large and there truly is something for everyone’s varying tastes. There are so many different options to choose from, including noodles, Dim Sum, sushi, soup, rice dishes, and so many more. Zen Gardens is known for their mock meat items that can rival any meat dishes. Some of my favourites include their wonton soup, the kung po soy fritters, and their bento boxes.

Vegan Restaurants in Mississauga: Fresh

Fresh Restaurants Mississauga

Fresh is one of the first vegan restaurants I ever visited in Toronto, and now there are several locations across Toronto. They have expanded into Mississauga and Hamilton, too. They’ve been completely vegan since 1999 and take pride in being Toronto’s first vegan restaurant.

Fresh Restaurants Mississauga

Fresh is known for their freshly pressed juices and smoothies, and offer a great takeaway option for those working in the city. On the menu, you’ll find bowls, salads, burgers, tacos, wraps, and much more. Be sure to always order yourself some quinoa onion rings because they’re the best.

Vegan Restaurants in Mississauga: Copper Branch

Vegan Restaurants in Mississauga: Copper Branch

Copper Branch is a chain of vegan restaurants that originated in Montreal. They’ve made their way down to Toronto, the GTA, and beyond. They’re 100% plant-based, they have many gluten-free options, and they use non-GMO and organic ingredients where it’s possible. There are two locations in Mississauga: one at the Heartland Centre and one in northwest Mississauga on Argentia.

Copper Branch features meals that are healthy and hearty, like power bowls, burgers, sandwiches, soup, chili, and other side dishes. They also have an all day breakfast, smoothies, and a coffee bar. For the all day breakfast, Copper Branch has partnered with Just Egg and Field Roast for some awesome breakfast bagels.

Veggie Flames

Veggie Flames

Veggie Flames is a 100% vegetarian, vegan-friendly restaurant near Toronto Pearson Airport that we only visited for the first time recently. We know that we’ll be back there as soon as possible because the food is so yummy.

Veggie Flames

Veggie Flames describes itself as a “blend of Western and cultural comfort food” (and by “cultural comfort food”, they mean Indian food!). The entire menu is vegan-friendly, Swaminarayan-friendly (no onion/garlic) and Jain-friendly (no root vegetables).

Veggie Flames
Veggie Flames

They serve pizza, burgers, gyros, lasagna and smoothies on the Western side of things. As for the Indian cuisine, you’ll find biryani, noodles, samosas, aloo tikki, golgappe, and more.

When Justin and I dined at Veggie Flames, we ordered the Dorito nuggets (sweet and spicy vegan nuggets with chips on top that were amazing!), the kalga burger (kalga is a mock chicken), and a vegan panzerotti. The panzerotti was huge! The portions are hearty and the food is ultra comforting.

Dai Bi Chay

When we lived in Port Credit, we ordered takeout from Dai Bi Chay more times than I can count! For whatever reason, I never snapped any photos. The food likely smelled and tasted way too good to wait for a photo. Dai Bi Chay is a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant in Mississauga that’s super vegan-friendly.

The chefs at Dai Bi Chay transform traditional Vietnamese dishes into plant-based works of art. Their ingredients are fresh and primarily organic, and their dishes are of the highest quality. Some of the dishes contain egg and milk, so you will need to ask for everything to be made vegan. The majority of items are vegan (I usually stay away from anything labelled as having egg or dairy), but make sure you ask for vegan to be sure.

Studio.89

Studio.89 - Vegan cafe

Studio.89 is unlike any other Mississauga coffee shop! It’s a non-profit community hub and fair trade cafe that’s also 100% vegan. Studio.89 offers accessible programming for the community, as well as a free space for workshops and events.

This is one of the best cafes in Mississauga because they care about people, animals, and the planet. They run events for the community, provide a space for animal advocacy (and 100% plant-based products), and they aim to reduce overall waste.

As for the menu, you can find an assortment of coffee, tea, and espresso beverages. They’ve got almond, soy, and coconut milk. There are lots of vegan desserts and treats, as well as lunch menu items like grilled cheese, soups, wraps, a pulled mushroom sandwich, and bowls. With so much yummy food and drink and their sustainable initiatives, this is one of the best coffee shops in Mississauga.

Water Drop Teahouse

Water Drop Teahouse Mississauga

There’s a little known vegetarian teahouse in Mississauga where you can find fresh fruit tea and delicious vegan meals in a peaceful environment. It isn’t advertised at all and there’s no outdoor signage for it. The Water Drop Teahouse (formerly known as Lotus Teahouse) is a Buddhist temple Mississauga tea house, and it’s a delightful place to enjoy a delicious and healthy meal.

Water Drop Teahouse Mississauga

Step inside the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and you’ll find a quaint tea house that has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots in the Toronto area. It’s perfect for vegans, vegetarians, and those who love incorporating plant-based meals into their lives.

Water Drop Teahouse Mississauga

The entire menu is vegetarian and most of the dishes are vegan. There are only one or two food items (one sandwich and the desserts) that are not vegan. All of the noodle and soup dishes are vegan. The temple serves mock meat items in many of its dishes, including tofu and seitan. We highly recommend ordering a pot of their fruit tea as it’s absolutely delicious.

Veggie Planet

Veggie Planet is a vegetarian Indian restaurant with fusion Indian street food, and it’s incredibly vegan-friendly. They have three locations: their original in Mississauga, one in Ajax, and one in Vaughan. Admittedly, I haven’t had the opportunity to dine there yet, but it’s at the top of my list the next time I dine out in Mississauga.

The vegan items are all clearly marked on the menu, though you will need to request for some items to be made vegan (they are made vegetarian by default). There are several pizzas, naan breads, many appetizers, burgers, Indian tadka, and drinks. I can’t wait to dine here and will definitely update this blog post when I do.

Guru Lukshmi

Guru Lukshmi is an authentic South Indian restaurant in Mississauga and it’s 100% vegetarian. You will need to avoid the menu items with yogurt and ghee, but the menu looks really vegan-friendly. Definitely inquire as to which items are vegan when you dine there and I’m sure the staff can help you out.

Kailash Parbat

Kailash Parbat is a chain of vegetarian restaurants worldwide offering primarily Indian (and some western) dishes. There are curries, chaat, and Hakka dishes on the menu. While everything is vegetarian, nothing is exclusively marked as vegan, so you will need to check with the staff about this.

Udupi Madras Cafe

Udupi Madras Cafe is a vegetarian South Indian restaurant in Mississauga with a vast menu for every taste. There are many vegan and gluten-free options at this establishment, though they aren’t clearly marked on the menu. The staff will help you out if you have any questions!

El Jefe

El Jefe

El Jefe offers authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Port Credit. They specialize in tacos and delicious entrees made with authentic ingredients and seasonings. Plus, they have a vast cocktail menu with an extensive tequila menu, mixed with house made syrups and purees. Their outdoor patio is like a big tiki bar and has a retractable roof.

El Jefe
El Jefe

The menu isn’t super vegan-friendly, but there are some options with modifications. Guac and chips is always a great plant-based treat. There’s also a vegetarian taco on the menu, the cauliflower tacos, which can be made vegan by removing the lime crema. I’d love to see some more vegan tacos on El Jefe’s menu in the future as the food was really good!

Stonehooker Brewing Company

Stonehooker Brewing Company

Stonehooker Brewing Company uses high quality and fresh ingredients to create delicious brews. They offer traditional beer styles from Germany, England, and Belgium, as well as a variety of craft beer like IPAs, fruit beers, sours, and others.

They have their classics and seasonal beer on rotation. Typically, they have at least 10 different beers on tap, and you can purchase 18 different kinds of beer from their shop in bottles or cans. I love going to Stonehooker for their beer garden.

They have a large patio out front with many picnic tables. It’s dog-friendly, and they often have live music on weekends. There’s even a BBQ where you can order some food with your beer. The chef always makes sure that there’s a vegan option (usually a vegan burger and sometimes they even have vegan cheese!).

Vegan Options at Chain Restaurants in Mississauga

Dining at a popular chain restaurant in Mississauga and looking for vegan food? Here are some great choices at vegan-friendly establishments.

Meltwich

MELTwich vegan sandwich

Meltwich is a chain of decadent grilled cheese restaurants and they have a bunch of tasty vegan options. Their plant-based menu features the classic vegan melt, vegan mushroom melt, guac & roll, classic vegan poutine, mushroom madness poutine, vegan chik’n strips, and the Impossible burger. The grilled cheese pictured above was a special when we visited, a vegan hot Nashville chicken sandwich.

Boston Pizza

Vegan pizza at Boston Pizza

Boston Pizza has recently upped their vegan game! They offer more vegetarian items on the menu, including a pizza with BBQ Field Roast plant-based crumble (the Happy Herbivore pizza). The regular pizzas and pastas come with regular cheese, but all Boston Pizza locations carry vegan cheese. This means that you can order a vegan pizza, vegan nachos, or substitute vegan cheese for most menu items.

Moxie’s

Moxie's vegan tacos

Moxie’s is a chain restaurant that never used to have any plant-based options, and now it’s one of the better chains for vegan food in Mississauga. There’s an entirely plant-based menu! You can order the guacamole, the tofu lettuce wraps, the vegetarian power bowl, the Beyond burger, the vegan black bean tacos (pictured above), the vegan Thai curry laksa, or the nacho platter.

Earl’s Kitchen and Bar

Earl's Kitchen + Bar vegan

Earls Square One is one of the best vegan chain restaurants in Mississauga. They’ve had a plant-based menu for a long time now, and one of the first chains in Ontario to introduce one. You can choose from: crispy sushi tofu tacos (pictured above), vegan Impossible burger, vegan Mother Earth bowl, vegan hunan kung pao, vegetable tempura, spring greens and grains bowl, or the vegan street corn and avocado dip. Yum!

The Works

The Works

It took a little while (and many years of not carrying a vegan bun), but the Works now has a completely vegan burger that’s awesome! It’s called the Knock Your Plants Off Vegan Bacon Cheeseburger, and it’s super satisfying and tasty. It starts with a Beyond burger patty and comes topped with creamy vegan cheese, smokey tempeh bacon, smokey BBQ sauce, lettuce, and tomato.

Vegan Bakeries and Vegan Treats in Mississauga

Mississauga is also home to several vegan and veg-friendly bakeries. Here’s where you’ll find yummy plant-based donuts, cookies and more.

Joughnuts Doughnuts

Joughnuts Doughnuts

Joughnuts Doughnuts is an all vegan doughnut shop in Mississauga. They used to offer pre-order sales and pickups each Saturday. However, they’ve temporarily closed to focus on opening their own storefront. Stay tuned!

Daddy O Doughnuts

Daddy O Doughnuts

Daddy O Doughnuts and British Baked Goods is a vegan-friendly donut shop in Mississauga. They have an entire vegan section of the shop with several donuts. I suggest that you arrive early because they tend to sell out by the end of the day. Their doughnut menu changes monthly, but I counted 17 different vegan donuts on this month’s menu. Amazing!

Craving a sweet treat with your coffee? Head directly to Little Rose Cookie Co in the village of Streetsville, within the heart of Mississauga. While they’re first and foremost known for their cookies, Little Rose Cookie Co is a cute cafe with lots of coffee beverages, too.

Little Rose Cookie Co Streetsville

The bottom shelf in the photo above features all vegan cookies, including a chocolate chip cookie with an Oreo baked inside that I sampled (yum!). There are also sugar cookies, but the vegan ones tend to go fast.

Little Rose Cookie Co

It’s also possible to order custom made cookies, too. I really enjoyed my iced Americano with oat milk as well. I can’t wait to return to Little Rose Cookie Co for some more delicious cookies and coffee.

Eva’s Original Chimneys

Eva's Original Chimneys

Eva’s Original Chimneys is a European tradition brought over to Toronto and the GTA. We’ve enjoyed delicious chimney cakes in the Czech Republic, and I love that we can eat them here in Canada, too. Eva’s Original Chimneys starts with a vegan chimney cone (all of their chimney cakes are vegan) and has several vegan ice cream options. Here is their full vegan menu.

GeLatte

GeLatte is a coffee shop and dessert shop in Port Credit near the GO station. They’re super vegan-friendly and offer several vegan desserts and gelato options. They also serve a few different kinds of plant-based milks for the coffee. Just ask what’s vegan and the friendly barista will help you out (the desserts are all clearly marked, too!).
